The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has determined that there was not sufficient data to calculate the Cost performance category of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) during the 2021 performance year. Providers who participated in MIPS in 2021 will not be scored on this category.
The Cost performance category typically makes up 15% of MIPS scoring, but for 2021 this will be redistributed to another performance category. In most instances, it will be redistributed to the Quality performance category. This reweighting is automatic — clinicians do not need to take any action for the reweighting to occur. Note that final scores for 2021 MIPS participation are not yet available; they will likely be published this summer.
More information about MIPS is available on the website. Please contact Zach Smith, 新澳门六合彩官网® Senior Quality Programs Specialist, if you have questions about your 2021 MIPS participation.
