The American Medical Association/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) meeting took place virtually April 21–24. The meeting marked the first under the leadership of Ezequiel Silva III, MD, FаÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø, Chair of the RUC.
The аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø® (аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø®) was represented by Lauren Golding, MD, аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø RUC Advisor, and Andrew Moriarity, MD, аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Alternate RUC Advisor. William Donovan, MD, MPH, served as the Radiology RUC panel member, and Kurt Schoppe, MD, was the Alternate Radiology RUC panel member.
Michael Booker, MD, Radiological Society of North America RUC Advisor since 2018, was nominated in March to the RUC’s Practice Expense Subcommittee. This was his first meeting serving on the subcommittee.
No radiology codes were surveyed during the April meeting, however, several code families related to evaluation and management (E/M) were addressed; RUC discussions are confidential. The E/M code families will be reviewed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for implementation in the 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. The October 2021 RUC survey cycle will begin in June.
